We’ve all gotta start somewhere… I started playing music when I was 5 years old. I’ve been playing music for over 27 years now and teaching for over 10 years. I grew up in a single wide trailer house in rural Kentucky when I was a kid. We didn’t have a lot of money when I was growing up but I never let that discourage me. I would trap myself in my room for hours playing the guitar, looking at posters of bands on my bedroom wall, watching instructional DVDs and later videos online when YouTube came out. I would consume everything from how to play a Rock N Roll guitar solo to live concert footage of my favorite bands and artists, fantasizing about standing on a stage one day like all of my heroes had done before me. 

After High School, I studied guitar and music theory at Western Kentucky University for a while, then hit the road with my first touring band based out of Nashville shortly after. I spent many nights for years in my career sleeping in vans, playing for nobody at club shows, and I've played shows with some of the iconic bands and artists I grew up listening to as a kid while playing prestigious places like the Royal Albert Hall in London. Drive and work ethic helped get me there, but it was all made possible by the love for music. 

Not everyone’s goal is to pursue music as a career like I have. But if it is, and if I can do it, anyone can! Playing music is for everybody of all ages! I’ve taught students from ages 5 to 80. My teaching approach is not like other music teachers. I was self taught starting out and later learned from music teachers in school and college. My approach has always been mixing both, what I've learned on my own and what worked from being self taught, and what I've learned from music teachers. I keep things simple and easy to understand but give you the music theory knowledge along the way that ANYONE can understand. That way you can find your own voice and play music how you want to play!
